Main Blade Grip Design
In order to sustain high rotor speed, a thrust bearing is installed between two high precision radial bearings in our blade grip; hence light weight mini servos (1.2kg~1.8kg torque) can easily handle the job and support high precision movements.
Thrust Bearing in Main Blade Grip
We calculated that at 3000RPM (with 25g main blades), each main grip needs to sustain 49.04kg of centrifugal force; at 3500rpm, each main grip needs to sustain a whopping 66.75kg of centrifugal force (equal to the weight of an average adult)! Regular ball bearings just wont hold at extreme high RPM conditions; thus we turn to a thrust bearing design that can easily handle high rotor RPM.
